New Tunes - Walk the Moon "Shiver Shiver"

Lately I have been eating up music. Song after song, I've been jamming; singing along much to the chagrin of Ryan. I guess this is one of those times in your life where music just gets you and plays the perfect song and you're all in. Well, I heard a song a while back by Walk the Moon called "Anna Sun." It was pretty good so I decided to download the self-titled 2012 album it's from. The short (43:01), eleven song album is packed with good songs, like today's, "Shiver Shiver."

The band decided to try a "7in7" series. Where they make "officially unofficial music videos, hand-made, band-made by WALK THE MOON without a film crew or a budget." They did it with only one camera while they were on tour. Pretty impressive I think. I checked out most of the other videos and they seem pretty neat. It's nice to see that a band can not only make some good music but seem like they have a fun time doing it.

"Shiver Shiver" was one of the videos they did on tour. I just want to say one thing, white boy can dance.

Next time these guys stroll through my area, I am definitely going to their concert. I hope they're just as awesome live. If you have more time, check out their video for "Quesdilla" because it's hilarious.

Have you seen these guys live? Are they pretty good? Tell me about your best concert experience - of all time, not just with these guys. Isn't it amazing to be part of something bigger?

Happy March

So I'm going to be honest. I'm not quite sure what this blog is. It's supposed to be my everyday life, as per my blog title. But I feel constricted. I have certain days where I'm supposed to post things and sometimes I want to talk about other things. Thus, a change is a comin'. Again.

I'm sure you're indifferent, mainly because there's one follower (hi you!) and a handful of viewers (hello world). Stick with me and I'm sure you'll read a lot more. Hopefully. Maybe. Please?

One thing I'm sticking with is the printable. Because I love 'em. And you may just like them too. This month honors the huge "Irish" holiday this month.

This printable was formatted to fit a normal 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper. I used the following fonts: AYearWithoutRain. FoglihtenNo01. ClipperScriptFat. IndyPimp. CKHandprint. CandyRandy. CinnamonCake. HoneyScript. Lullaby. Shamrock.

Are you Irish? I'm a quarter. Along with a quarter of Dutch, German, and French to round it out. What are some big heritage holidays out there that I don't know about? Are there any?

Tunetastic Thursday - J. Roddy Walston and the Business "Take It As It Comes"

Today is a glorious day, for several reasons conflicting reasons. Conflicting, you may ask? Glorious yet conflicting? Does that even make sense?

Of course it does. Especially if you're me.

Why so glorious? For one, it's snowing. And I LOVE snow. The white stuff just makes my heart pitter patter. And two, the hubbs is taking me to see Wild Cub! Snow and travel does not bode well for me. But I'm good because I have the hubbs as my chauffeur.

I mentioned them in a previous Tunetastic post. WEQX, my favorite radio station ever, played them and I became hooked pretty quick. Seriously, this radio station brings attention to great new bands. Like today's band, J. Roddy Walston and the Business. And eff me, if that isn't just the coolest name ever. To top it off, you have to respect someone who says, "I don't play keyboards - I play piano." on why he brings a 300lb piano on tour. There's no real video for it, and I try to link to the band's page rather than other performances or tv hosts, so I hope you like it.

What's been on your playlist this week? Anything I should check out?

Tunetastic Thursday - The Head and the Heart "Shake"

I can already tell that this year is going to be terrific for music. And I hope to see so many bands live this year. Including today's band, The Head and the Heart. I have been a fan since their early days with songs like "Lost in My Mind", "Rivers and Roads", and "Cats and Dogs".

Now that their new album, Let's Be Still, is out, I hope they get a lot more attention. It's definitely well deserved. So for your listening pleasure...

What do you think? Does someone make you shake?

Did you miss me?

That may be a little creepy. But if you don't know where it's from, I feel like we can't be friends. Not until you watch all three seasons of Sherlock from the BBC. Then you'll get it. And you'll be hooked to quite possibly the best television series, ever. And then you'll be a Cumberlady too.

I realize I'm a few days late, but Happy February! As with the beginning of each month, there's a printable. I have it up on my mantel for simple yet romantic decor. What do you think?

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day? I've heard some couples say that they celebrate another day. An old boss said that he let's his wife pick any other day of the year and she can call it whatever she wants, just not Valentine's Day. Whatever you call it, are you doing something lovely in the near, distant, future? I've already got Ryan's present (one point for me for preparedness), I just have to pick up a blank card from a local artist. I'm pretty sure he still hasn't even realized it's less than two weeks away (one point for him on procrastination?).

Naturally this month's printable is holiday inspired. As made up as that holiday may be, it gives me something to look forward to. Because right now, in New York, the weather is abysmal and it looks like the world just gave up. So ugly. And depressing. I either need snow or spring. How about you? How's the weather where you live? I hope it's prettier than what's going on around here. Can I go back to the Caribbean yet?

I'll Be Back

Well, the flu has seriously kicked my ass. After a full week back at work, I'm ready for a vacation.

Good thing I have one starting tomorrow morning! Seriously, I'll be on a boat for the next nine days. Off to surf, sun, and sand. And you can be sure I've got my flippy floppies. Don't know that reference? Not afraid of the f-bomb? Then I'll leave you this.

It's a big blue watery road.

Happy New Year, Happy January

Well, I hope everyone's new year is going better than mine. Two days in and the hubbs and I both have the flu. Lovely. But the year's only going to get better from here, right? I sure hope so. Especially considering I have a vacation in eight days. EIGHT DAYS.

In light of this year starting a bit rough, I'm sharing a favorite quote of mine. I try to read it whenever I'm in a bad place and it reminds me to keep on keepin' on. I saw it first in an image like this one:

So the one I have for you is formatted for 4" x 6". This would look great with a mellow background paper. I would put it where you need it most. Bedside table, kitchen counter, by the door.

How's your 2014 starting out? Did you make any resolutions this year?
